Wisdom in the body

bamboo_optimiseJin Shin Jyutsu (pronounced jin-shin-JIT-soo) is a profound, disarmingly simple and non-invasive means of engaging the wisdom already contained in the body for the purpose of bringing harmony to our being.

People are drawn to this for a variety of different reasons. Jin Shin Jyutsu can be useful as an adjunct to other natural therapies, or alongside allopathic medical treatment; it can also support a personal journey towards discovering that deep unshakeable inner confidence, and a way of being that is truly fearless, full of fun and playfulness. Better still it can do both of these simultaneously.

Gentle touch to "unlock" the wisdom within

Utilising only gentle firm touch through clothing, Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied by an authorised, qualified practitioner or by ourselves to ourselves. This deeply respectful way of working with the body needs no initiation or special ability, rather it relies on a combination of awareness, understanding and application. For a practitioner the study for deep awareness, understanding and most appropriate application is lifelong.

Jin Shin Jyutsu philosophy is not attached to any religion and requires no belief. Simply, the ancient art of Jin Shin Jyutsu reminds us that we are not separate from nature, we are nature. Nature is always effortless. When are in balance with the bigger whole of which we are part then harmony follows.

Harmony is the origin of living

Within each of us a deep pulse of perfect harmony is always present, even when illness and discomfort are experienced, this pulse of harmony persists at a deep level. While this may appear to be a radical or surprising concept, many different traditions recognise this underlying perfect harmony implicit in all creation, the harmony of the bigger order of which we are a part, in references such as: "created in the image of God", "Buddha nature within" or simply "Divine Interconnectedness". Jin Shin Jyutsu offers very simple practical support for us to live this perfect expression of harmony that is innate to each of us, to be the divine blueprint.

Stress effects our mind, our body and our spirit

Our wellbeing depends upon the free and even distribution of life energy throughout our body, mind, and spirit. ‘When the stress and strain of daily living disrupts the movement of life energy, our mind, body, and spirit are all affected. Not only do we succumb to worry, fear, anger, sadness, and pretensions, we also increase our tendency to become ill or "out of balance."

The application of the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu restores movement, unobstructed flow and harmonious rhythm to the energy pathways of the body. This restores harmony to the body, the mind and the emotions. So it is that Jin Shin Jyutsu is described as an art of harmonising, with healing the only known side-effect.

"Safety" Energy Locks are resources

Electrical systems incorporate fuses to act as safety mechanisms when the flow of energy through the system is out of harmony. When the fuse blows and the circuit of energy is stopped, we are alerted that there is a problem in the overall circuit. Similarly human beings have inbuilt safety fuses in the circuitry of our being; in Jin Shin Jyutsu they are referred to as ‘safety energy locks'. When these safety energy locks lock, uncomfortable symptoms can result; this discomfort draws our attention to the imbalance we are living.

Understanding and paying attention to these symptoms is not in any way equivalent to being sick because we got life wrong!! Rather, these ‘safety energy locks' are not only locks but also are 'keys'. Each one offers us the key to a particular vibrational energy and is a vast resource for particular aspects of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing; a resource that allows us to access our deep inate wisdom in our bodies and in our mental/emotional being. It is accessing this innate wisdom that restores the harmony effortlessly. Knowing the location of the relevant safety energy locks, and understanding the relation of individual safety energy locks to the whole, we simply hold these locations with the hands.

Simply vibrantly alive

This seems so simple that often the most difficult part of Jin Shin Jyutsu is getting beyond the mental challenge that something so easy can have any effect! Simply by holding relevant safety energy locks, the cause of the symptoms of discomfort can be released. We may experience this as physical ease, or simply a sense of being deeply at ease in the world, comfortable in ourselves and vibrantly alive.
