What to expect from individual sessions?

Constellation Work can be successful as both group work and as individual experience

Individual sessions usually last 90 minutes.

The client brings a particular issue they want to address.
The client states the issue very simply, without going into the stories around it.
The facilitator may then ask the client some questions around the symptom of the issue, significant elements, relationships or family history. The facilitator may sketch a brief geneogram.

When the facilitator has sufficient information a constellation can be set up.
The facilitator may put pieces of paper as markers for the people or elements that belong to the client's issue.
Alternatively the facilitator may guide the client through seeing the constellation in "the mind's eye".

When the constellation is set up, the client will feed back information to the facilitator about his/her experience of different aspects of the constellation. Bodily sensations and feelings provide a lot of information for the facilitator to guide the constellation to a more new order where a healing image can be experienced. Different possibilities for solving the problem can be tested until a place is found where various tensions experienced in the constellation subside. As part of moving towards the new image, the facilitator will guide the client through some spoken sentences. The constellation does not always end with each element in its optimum place; the movement of a constellation often simply reveals the next step towards resolution and gives the client actual experience of this next step to resolution. Usually the client gains helpful insight through the process and leaves visibly more at ease and with sense of being resourced.

One or more follow up sessions may be recommended.

Understanding and assimilation of constellation work grows and deepens as a person's exposure to the process expands
